He was a 1974 graduate of Centralia High School having continued on from there to Hawkeye Institute for Photography in Waterloo, IA. Randy worked for 25 years with 3M Company in Columbia, Missouri having left to fulfill a lifelong dream, with his wife of having his own photography studio, Mirror Images Photography in Centralia, Missouri. He went on to freelance for the local newspaper at the time, the Centralia Guard and was the staff photographer for the yearbook during Jr. High and High School. Later, while working at 3M, he partnered with a co-worker and they had a small photography studio in Columbia, Reflections Photography, where Randy was the wedding photographer. Later he and his wife owned the studio in Centralia.
