JOHN JOSEPH BURNS

John Joseph Burns, 71 Centralia, MO passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2026, surrounded by his family at his home. He was born on November 18, 1954, in Clark, MO, the son of the late Francis and Iva Mae (Tate) Burns. On September 21, 2001, he was united in marriage to Joyce (Martin) Burns.

In addition to his wife Joyce of 25 years, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children Travis Williams (Kathy), Tonya Williams (Hunter), Joey Williams (Shannon), Jewel Durham and Ronald Williams (Karen); his brother Harold South; two step brothers Billy South (Clarice) and Clarence South; several grandchildren; step grandchildren; great grandchildren; step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents, his sister Mary Lou Jenkins; two brothers Bobby Burns and Charles Burns; a step sister Mary Smith; three step children Amanda Durham, Kenny Baker and Carrie Baker; his mother and father in law Mildred and Herbert Martin; and his brother in laws Jim Martin, Dail Martin and Ray Martin; and a sister in law Donna Martin preceded him in death.

John worked for Hubbel Power Systems for many years. He was a member of Liberty Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Thompson, MO and enjoyed sports, especially basketball. He served as a little league baseball coach and loved playing cornhole and the Ozark Mountain Daredevils.

A celebration of life will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Oliver Funeral Home, Centralia, MO. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to service time on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Oliver Funeral Home, Centralia, MO. A graveside service will be 2:30 pm Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Mexico, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chapel Grove Cemetery Fund, c/o Oliver Funeral Home, P.O. Box 125, Centralia, MO 65240.
