JANET K. (KENNEY) STOWERS

Janet K. (Kenney) Stowers, 82, Centralia, MO passed away peacefully at her residence at the Heritage Hall Nursing Center in Centralia, MO the evening of Saturday, September 13, 2025, surrounded by her immediate family. She was born on August 13, 1943, in Boonville, MO, the daughter of the late Cecil T. and Juanita V. (Wolfe) Kenney.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by one daughter Gara Stowers (Mike Bramon) of Centralia, MO; grandsons Turner Smith (Hannah) of Columbia, MO and Trenton Smith (Jessi) of Centralia, MO; her great grandchildren Oliver Smith, Liam Smith and Elizabeth Smith; her brothers Bob Kenney (Betty) and Jay Conrow; her sister in laws Phyllis Kenney, Mary Ann Conrow and Sharon Conrow; a god daughter Robin (Fischer) Badger; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents, and grandparents, three brothers Bill Kenney, Johnny Joe Conrow and Jeff Conrow, and one sister Sandra (Kenney) Fischer preceded her in death.

Janet was a 1961 graduate of Boonville High School. After marrying Gara’s dad in 1963, Janet traded in town life and became a farm wife. Over the next 37 years, she learned to cook and bake from scratch. She could can and “put up” produce from her large garden. She was a member of Friendship Christian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a bible schoolteacher in the summer. She also led a Brownie Troop, was involved in 4-H and was a room mother for Gara’s classes. Janet became active in the Centralia Chapter of the Young Farmers Wives and was, for a period of time, a Democratic Committee Woman and then chairperson in Audrain County (North Centralia). Janet didn’t know a stranger and had a giving heart. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards once a month with her lady friends, and hosting gatherings at the Stowers homestead both large and small. If you counted yourself as a friend or loved one, you were lucky.

A celebration of life will be 11:00 am on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO. Interment will be Centralia City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO.
